7 Best Shampoos For Straight Hair!

Hello there!

I am grateful to be blessed with straight hair. Easy-to-manage and hardly needs combing. That is one thing I would want to stay as it is. But let us accept it: Nobody has perfect hair!

My hair type is 1, i.e. fine, straight hair. Over the time my hair has been exposed to various atmospheric as well as anatomical changes (body fluids, hormones, etc.). My hair has become comparatively thin over all. Also it is prone to split ends which means dry ends. In addition to everything my hair falls flat. I know it may sound a bit wonderful to already have a ‘stick-straight’ hair but not always.

So without further ado, if you have natural straight hair and/or straightened hair, here are some shampoos I would like to suggest.

7 Shampoos For Straight Hair1

P.S: The Indian market does not have shampoos specifically for hair types rather the problems it faces. Though a lot of the brands offer the same idea, very few have been effective on my hair.

Garnier Ultra Blends1. Garnier Ultra Blends:

I never had a good experience with Garnier products but this is good, like superb! Works for all hair types, the Ultra Blends range offer a wide range of shampoos for various needs.

  • All herbal ingredients
  • Cleanses with softness
  • Mild
  • Does not leave build up on hair or scalp

  • Does not wash away applied hair oil

My favourite, however, is the ‘5 Precious Herbs: Revitalizing Shampoo’ and the ‘Mythic Olive: Deep Nourishing Shampoo’.

Garnier Ultra Blends 5 Precious HerbsGarnier Ultra Blends Mythic Olive

Price: Rs. 120 / 180 ml.

The Body Shop Banana Shampoo2. The Body Shop Banana Shampoo:

Though the Rain-forest range of the brand is much better as claimed, but I find this shampoo more effective on my hair type. The shampoo, filled with real banana puree, intends to give volume and natural sheen to the hair.

  • Gives visible volume after one wash
  • Adds shine to the hair
  • Mild, gently cleanses
  • Does not leave any kind of residue on hair or scalp
  • Removes applied hair oil

  • Contains artificial sulfate foaming agent
  • Has a very strong, sweet smell, which personally I feel induces headache after few minutes.
  • Does not wash off easily
  • Needs to be followed by the conditioner

Price: Rs. 795 / 250 ml.

Dove Advanced Rejuvenated Volume3. Dove Advanced Rejuvenated Volume Shampoo:

I am currently using this. Dove is the best option if you want a mild shampoo that works great on any hair type. This one is for thinning hair. Not only does it promise volume but also help retaining nutrients essential for hair.

  • Does not leave build up
  • Mild
  • Adds bounce to the hair

    • Needs a follow up by conditioner
    • Does not give much volume to the hair but is okay (I have used this twice by now and it does bring visible change)Dove Advanced Oxygen Moisture

For those wondering, this shampoo is great for straight hair as compared to the ‘Oxygen Moisture’ of the same Dove Advanced series, which disappointed me very badly.

Price: Rs. 250 / 240 ml.

Herbal Essence Body Envy Volumizing Shampoo4. Herbal Essences Body Envy Volumizing Shampoo:

Herbal essences is a product of Clairol, which I didn’t know for a long time. As the name suggests, the shampoo is made out of herbal extracts but also contains chemicals. I fell in love with the brand when my best friend recommended it to me. Though we tried out a different shampoo, I ended up using this one.

  • Adds bounce to the hair
  • Makes your hair look full of life
  • Effective from one wash
  • Mild

  • Does not moisturise properly
  • Does not give volume as promised
  • Contains chemicals

Herbal Essences Dangerously Straight ShampooUnlike this shampoo, the ‘Herbal Essence Dangerously Straight’ was a very good shampoo and had more pros than cons. Since my hair is straight, it made my hair even more straight, sleek and silky. I would have swore by it all my life but unfortunately, the shampoo was discontinued.

Price: Rs. 179 – Rs. 800 / 298 ml – 1 L, but the price varies across different stores.

Wella Professional Enrich Moisture5. Wella Professional Enrich Moisturising Shampoo For Dry and Damaged Hair:

Surprisingly, this one turned out to be good! I had never used Wella before but the very first wash turned out better than I expected. This range is meant for straight or straightened hair for hair type fine, normal to thick, coarse hair. The shampoo for fine, normal hair comes in a tub-like packaging.

  • The shampoo is strong
  • Moisturises the hair from scalp to the tip
  • Effective in first wash
  • Shampoo alone is too good, you may or may not need conditioner

  • Does not wash off from the hair easily
  • Leaves residue
  •  Does not provide any volume or bounce

Price: Rs. 475 / 250 ml.

OGX Bamboo Fiber Full6. OGX Bamboo Fiber Full Shampoo:

This Organix shampoo is made up of bamboo stem extract and soy protein which acts the main ingredient to nourish the hair. It is good shampoo for cleansing the scalp but not for volume as the product guarantees.

  • Chemical Free
  • Deep cleanses your hair
  • Gives a beautiful shine to the hair
  • Strengthens your hair (if you are experiencing hair fall it’s good for you)

  • Does not provide volume as the product promises
  • Leaves a residue on the hair

Price: Rs. 725 / 385 ml.

John Frieda Frizz Ease Flawlessly Straight7. John Frieda Frizz Free Flawlessly Straight / Smooth Start:

While the actual ‘Flawlessly Straight’ is hardly available in India, the results for ‘Smooth Start’ also shows the same product in some websites even though they are two different products. However, if you use ‘Flawlessly Straight’ I could tell it will not disappoint you. The brand itself is very renowned and does deliver better results.

  • Works miraculously in first wash
  • Works well on curly hair too
  • Manages frizz and makes hair smooth
  • Easy to wash off
  • Gives a natural shine to the hair

  • You don’t need much of the product or else it makes you hair greasy the second day
  • Cannot control frizz if there is too much humidity so those with curly or unmanageable hair, watch out!

Price: Rs. 770 – Rs. 895 / 295 ml.

That is all for now, guys! The products mentioned are really good and budget friendly. These are some of the products that worked best for my hair type. If you have used any other product that did miracles for you, do let me know in the comment section below.
